Reviews:
(1). Pros: Board has almost everything built-in that you could want. Seems very fast and fully supports Windows 7 Media Server functionality.
Cons: After a couple of months it just stopped working. With nothing installed the board won't show anything on the built-in video or a PCI video adapter. Without a built-in speaker to give an audible alert there's no indication what's going on.
Other Thoughts: It appears to be a good board for HTPC application with the built in HDMI. Unfortunately the built-in video is a bit under-powered to handle HD streaming video from Hulu: stuttering occurs in full screen.
I want to like this board but will have to wait 10 days for my RMA to be processed before getting the repaired/replacement board.
(2). Pros: Easy to set up, worked great right out of the box, perfect for my needs.
Cons: First board:
No DVI out on the board itself. Also wouldn't give me any video out on two different graphics cards. A friendly and helpful ASUS rep basically told me that happens and that I should return it to New Egg.
Second board:
Worked great, set up quickly. After a week of perfection, started to blue screen. I removed things one at a time, thinking each time I might be close to the source, but it just kept happening. Called ASUS and was rather curtly told I could be called back and should leave me number. This of course never happened.
Worked fine for about two days once I got rid of a sound card I had installed. Then tonight I got another bluescreen. Couldn't get back into Windows, got more bluescreens trying to repair windows. Was now on one stick of ram, an HD, and the processor, and it stopped posting.
Other Thoughts: Just packaged up for another return to New Egg. I give up on this product. It was a great deal that would have really made my day had it worked. But I'm a busy grad student and I don't have time to rebuild my computer every week cause Mobos keep flaking out.
